Thomas Madeja
Thomas James Madeja is an experienced performer, teacher, director, and composer in a vast and eclectic variety of musical styles. He holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Illinois as well as a Master of Music degree from Baylor University. Madeja has a reputation of versatility. He has performed with symphony orchestras such as Symphony in C and the Allentown and Waco Symphony Orchestras, traditional jazz ensembles like the Hoppin' John Orchestra, and avant experimental groups like Bobby Zankel and the Warriors of the Wonderful Sound and Agent Moosehead. Madeja is also the director and founder of Nu Directions Chamber Brass, a brass and percussion ensemble dedicated to breaking down barriers of musical categories. Madeja has also shared the stage with renowned artists such as Maria Schneider, Clark Terry, Jim McNeely, Wycliffe Gordon, Marty Ehrlich, Rudresh Mahanthappa and many others. He has served on the music faculties of several music schools and is Founder and Artistic Director of the Chicago Metamorphosis Orchestra Project based on Chicago's West side.
